About Thanking
Thanking on Kialo allows users to express gratitude to others for actions on Kialo, such as creating claims, accepting suggestions, or making comments - anything that creates an entry in the Comments & History section of a claim or thesis.
The user Alison is "thanked" by 5 participants for accepting a suggestion. They have been thanked 150 times in total.
The number of times an action has been thanked appears next to the heart icon. Each user's global thanks count (the number of times they've been thanked) is displayed next to their name in brackets in the Comments & History section of a claim and on their user profile. Users can also find their own global thanks count at the top-right-hand corner of My Kialo.
How to Thank Others
To thank a user:
- Open the claim menu and select ‘Comments & History'; or left-click the selected claim.
- Click on the heart-shaped thanks icon under the relevant entry.
The heart icon is filled in and its thanks count increases by one.
As a shortcut to thank the author of a discussion or claim, either hover over the claim/thesis and click the empty heart icon that appears; or open the claim menu and click 'Thank Author'.
Each user can thank another user for each action once. Un-thanking is not currently possible. The number of times a comment has been thanked remains visible even if the comment is deleted.
