Using Kialo with Google Classroom
There are three recommended ways to use Kialo with Google Classroom:
1. Use the Kialo Google Add-on
The Kialo Google add-on is the best way to use Kialo with Google Classroom. You may be able to install the add-on yourself, or have to ask your workspace administrator to do it for you, depending on your workspace’s settings.
When using the add-on, you’ll be able to add a Kialo discussion as an assignment directly in Google Classroom, without needing to manage any permissions or invite students. When opening the discussion, students will automatically be logged into Kialo with their Google accounts and access the discussion with the Writer role, while teachers will automatically be granted the Admin role. Grades you assign in Kialo will be synced back to your Google assignment (in development).
2. Import Your Google Classroom to a Discussion
You can import your Google Classroom into your Kialo discussion, inviting all of your students in a few clicks. Use this method if you can’t install the Kialo Google add-on.
3. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion
This makes it very easy to have a quick discussion with your students.
1. Use the Kialo Google Add-on
Use this method if you or an admin has installed the Kialo Google add-on for your workspace by opening the marketplace link and clicking Install.
To add a Kialo discussion to your assignment:

Use this method if you aren’t able to use the add-on.

- Select the role to invite the class with (Writer is recommended).
- Once you’ve read the confirmation dialogue, click Confirm to import the class.
3. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion
Use this if you do not want your students to create Kialo accounts.
- In Kialo, enter your discussion and click the Share button.
- Enable Instant Access (don’t require Kialo accounts).
- Copy the link and use it in your Google class.
