Creating an Account
This article goes through the process of a user manually creating their own account on Kialo Edu. If you are using a Learning Management System (LMS), you can integrate Kialo Edu to allow your LMS to automatically manage accounts. See Using Kialo and LTI for more information.
Creating an Account using Google Classroom, Microsoft, or Clever SSO
You can create an account using your existing Google Classroom, Microsoft, or Clever SSO account. This will register on Kialo Edu with the same email as the account you use and you don’t need a password on Kialo.
- Open the Sign Up page by clicking the blue Sign Up button on the site or selecting Sign up when asked to log in.
- Click Continue with Google, Continue with Microsoft, or Continue with Clever as appropriate.
- Sign into your account if required and confirm the email you’re signing up with is the correct one. Then, click Confirm.
- Kialo will create a display name for you, which is how most other users will see you on Kialo Edu. If required, you can change this later. Click Sign Up.
To view or adjust your account settings, you can do so on the User Settings page.
Creating an Account using your Email Address
- Open the Sign Up page by clicking the blue Sign Up button on the main pages of the site or selecting the tab when asked to log in.
- Click Sign up with email.
- Complete the following fields:
- Display Name: This name appears to other users. Usually this should be your first name if you are a student. You can change this once after registering.
- Email: Your email address.
- Password: Your password must be at least 8 characters long. We recommend a mixture of lowercase and uppercase characters, along with numbers or special characters.
- Click Sign Up.
Creating an Email-less Account
Creating an email-less account is a quick and easy way to use Kialo, especially when trying it out for the first time. However, using an email is recommended as it helps you access your account if you forget your username or password. You won’t be able to recover your account if there is no email attached and you lose your login information.
- Open the Sign Up page by clicking the blue Sign Up button on the main pages of the site or selecting the tab when asked to log in.
- Click Click Sign up without email.
- Complete the following fields:
- Username: Your unique account name. You’ll use this to sign in.
- Password: Your password must be at least 8 characters long. We recommend a mixture of lowercase and uppercase characters, along with numbers or special characters.
- Confirm password: Type your password again.
- Click Next.
- Enter a Display Name. This name appears to other users. Usually this should be your first name if you are a student. You can change this once after registering.
- Click Sign Up.
If you sign up without an email address but want to attach one afterwards, following the instructions to Change an Email Address will add one to your account.
