Important Notes Regarding the Clone and Invite Wizard
Before using the Clone and Invite Wizard, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the following Kialo terms and functions:
- How to create a discussion.
- How roles in Kialo discussions work. Usually, students have the Writer role, and any additional teaching staff the Admin role.
- How to create teams and organize students into them, especially if working with a large group of students (see About Teams and Organizing Students into Groups on Kialo).
When using the Clone and Invite Wizard, a template discussion is cloned to create a discussion for each user or team specified. Each specified user - or team of users - is invited to their own clone discussion.
Optionally, specified users or teams can be invited to all cloned discussions created by the Clone and Invite Wizard. This is useful if there are additional teaching staff who should have access to all student discussions, such as for grading purposes.
The record of changes and comments on claims in the template discussion can optionally be included in the cloned discussions. This record is useful to include if you want to leave additional information or clarification for students inside the discussion, such as further information about specific claims.
If using the Clone and Invite Wizard to invite groups of students into discussions, these groups must be organized into teams beforehand. The Clone and Invite Wizard works by creating a new discussion for each user or team listed, so without teams for your groups, you won’t be able to add multiple people to one discussion through this process.
For organizational purposes, the Clone and Invite Wizard will append the name of all clone discussions with the user or team invited to each one.
The Clone and Invite Wizard is especially effective when used alongside Team Allocation Links, allowing you to organize students into equally sized teams and then invite those teams into their own clones of sample discussions.
Ensure that the discussion you want to clone has all the necessary information included before using the Clone and Invite Wizard. After the discussion has been cloned, changes made to it will not affect clone discussions.
Finally, to use the Clone and Invite Wizard you must have Admin or Owner rights in the discussion you intend to clone.
