This notice will be removed when it is published.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section><p>There are two suggested methods to use Kialo with Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS):<\/p><p><br><br><\/p><p><\/p><p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"#1-use-the-kialo-sls-app-recommended\">1. Use the Kialo SLS App (Recommended)<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>Kialo is included as an integrated app in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learning.moe.edu.sg\/teacher-user-guide\/discover\/access-app-library\/\">SLS App Library<\/a>. This is the most convenient way to use Kialo with SLS; however, it must be installed for each Class Group. Using the Kialo SLS app has the following benefits:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students will be automatically signed in to Kialo using their SLS name (or have accounts created for them). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students will have the same name in Kialo as their SLS account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roles in the Kialo discussion will be automatically assigned for students (Writer) and teachers (Admin). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kialo discussions can be embedded directly in SLS, allowing students to participate in Kialo discussions without leaving the SLS platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only members of your SLS Class Group can access the Kialo discussion by default. <\/li>\n<\/ul><p><br><\/p><p><\/p><p><br><\/p><p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"#2-link-to-an-instant-access-kialo-discussion\">2. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>Use this method to have quick, one-off discussions with your students during class. <\/p><p><br><\/p><p><br><\/p><p><\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Use the Kialo SLS App (Recommended)<\/h2><section class=\"kialo-callout reminder\">\n    <div class=\"callout-icon-wrapper\">\n        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/themes\/wp-helpcenter-theme\/assets\/icons\/clip.svg\" alt=\"reminder\" width=\"24\" height=\"24\" class=\"callout-icon\">\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"callout-content\">\n        <em>Reminder:<\/em>\n\t\t<p>The Kialo app is not available yet in the SLS App Library. This notice will be removed when it is published.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installing the Kialo SLS App<\/h4><p>Before the Kialo app can be used in a Class Group, it must first be installed by an SLS teacher or administrator. This only needs to be performed once per Class Group:<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In your SLS Class Group, from the left menu, open the <strong>Class Groups<\/strong> page. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Apps<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for the <strong>Kialo<\/strong> app. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Kialo app card<\/strong>, then <strong>OK<\/strong>. Kialo should now be installed for your Class Group.<\/li>\n<\/ol><p>Up-to-date instructions to install apps can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learning.moe.edu.sg\/teacher-user-guide\/organise\/install-and-launch-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official SLS documentation<\/a>.<\/p><p><br><\/p><p><\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using the Kialo SLS App<\/h4><p>After the Kialo app has been installed for your Class Group (see above), to add a Kialo discussion to any activity:<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the SLS activity selection page, select <strong>App<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the <strong>Browse Apps<\/strong> page, choose <strong>Kialo<\/strong>. The Embed App window will open. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select a Kialo discussion<\/strong> or create a <strong>New<\/strong> one. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If prompted, choose your <strong>Small Group Mode<\/strong> setting, then click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<br>a. If you want all of your students to work in the <strong>same<\/strong> discussion, select <strong>No Groups<\/strong>.<br>b. If you want your students to work in <strong>separate<\/strong> <strong>copies<\/strong> of the discussion, select the appropriate option. <strong>Automatically assign to groups<\/strong> splits your students randomly into the number of groups entered; whereas <strong>Manually assign to groups<\/strong> will require you to sort each student into groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the Kialo window closes and you can see the <strong>Resource URL<\/strong> field has been filled, click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol><p>Done! Your Kialo discussion should appear in your activity.<\/p><p><br><br><\/p><p><\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion<\/h2><section class=\"kialo-callout warning\">\n    <div class=\"callout-icon-wrapper\">\n        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/themes\/wp-helpcenter-theme\/assets\/icons\/alert.svg\" alt=\"warning\" width=\"24\" height=\"24\" class=\"callout-icon\">\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"callout-content\">\n        <em>Warning:<\/em>\n\t\t<p>Be aware that when using Instant Access Discussions, students can share the discussion link outside of the classroom. If this is a concern, please use the Kialo SLS app instead.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In Kialo, enter your discussion and click the<strong> Share<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enable Instant Access (don&rsquo;t require Kialo accounts)<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Copy the link<\/strong> and use it in your course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two suggested methods to use Kialo with Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS):1.
