These tools are designed to meet the unique needs of educators and make processes you&rsquo;re likely to need to use regularly easier, saving you time when you use Kialo.<\/p><p><strong>Discussion-Related<br><\/strong><em>These tools make using discussions in a classroom setting easier.<\/em><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/small-group-mode\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"5202\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Small Group Mode<\/a>: When enabled, splits students up automatically into a specified number of groups who then work independently in their own copy of the discussion. Especially useful if you want to split up a large class of students into smaller groups. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-anonymous-discussions\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"518\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Anonymous Discussions<\/a>: When enabled, students will have anonymous aliases in the discussion. Useful to prevent students from acting on biases, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-voting\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">voting<\/a> favorably on their friends&rsquo; contributions. Teachers are able to view the real usernames of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-tasks\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Tasks<\/a>: Lets you set goals for students to complete in a specific discussion. Especially useful if you&rsquo;re using Kialo Edu for the first time with a class or group of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/using-teacher-feedback\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"535\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Grading and Feedback<\/a>: Allows you to grade students in a discussion and leave feedback directly on their claims, with feedback hidden from students until you&rsquo;re ready to reveal it to them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/notification-and-activity-lists\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"525\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Discussion Activity List<\/a>: Shows you a real-time list of all changes and comments made in the discussion, in reverse chronological order. Can also display which students have or haven&rsquo;t voted on which claims. Useful for grading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/displaying-claim-authors\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"521\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Display Claim Authors<\/a>: Adds a header above each claim, displaying which user created or linked the claim. This makes it easy to see who contributed which claim in each location &mdash; especially useful for grading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/about-voting\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"531\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Vote Visibility<\/a>: Allows you to adjust the visibility of votes on claims for students, hiding how other students have voted. As a result, students can&rsquo;t simply vote the same way other students have.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p><strong>Administrative<br><\/strong><em>These tools make it easier to organize your students, helping to sort them into teams, and invite them to discussions.<\/em><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-instant-access-discussions\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"2740\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Instant Access Discussions<\/a>: Allow anyone with the link to a discussion to participate, without needing to create a Kialo Edu account. Especially useful to provide to students using Kialo for the first time who do not yet have accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/lti\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"595\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">LTI<\/a>: You can ask your Learning Management System (LMS) admin to set up LTI with Kialo, making it simple to manage your students. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-link-sharing\/\" data-type=\"docs\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Link Sharing<\/a>: Generates a link that can be used by students to access discussions without needing to be invited. Useful to provide to students who have not been organized into teams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/about-teams\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"559\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Teams<\/a>: Teams let you split up a large group of students into smaller groups. Smaller groups allow more individual input from each student and are ideal for graded assignments, allowing for more in-depth discussions tailored to your planned assignments. Teams can also be reused &mdash; they only need to be set up once if you plan on using the same groups again.<br>For guidance on how large (or small) teams should be for your assignment, see <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/using-kialo-with-large-groups-of-students\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"582\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Using Kialo with Large Groups of Students<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/about-teams\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"559\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Team Invite Links<\/a>: Creates a link that you can share with your students which, when clicked, will let your students join the respective team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/creating-an-account\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"560\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Email-less Signups<\/a>: If you want students to create an account without providing an email address, you can instruct them to click <strong>Sign up without email<\/strong> when registering an account. Students must create accounts if they want to make contributions to a discussion as otherwise grading would be impossible &mdash; educators wouldn&rsquo;t know which contributions were made by which students.
