Here you can view a list of users in the discussion and their overall grades (if given). Clicking a user displays their <strong>Grading Details <\/strong>where you can leave an overall grade and feedback, as well as view a list of their contributed claims. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By default, grades and feedback are not immediately visible to students, allowing you to give and adjust grades and feedback as desired. Once you are ready, <a href=\"#adjusting-grade-and-feedback-visibility\">adjust Grade and Feedback visibility<\/a> to reveal it to students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students receive a notification when new grades or feedback are visible to them. Students can view their grades and feedback in a discussion by clicking <strong>Grade \/ Feedback<\/strong> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/navigating-the-discussion-menu\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Discussion Menu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Grading Menu<\/h2><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grading Overview<\/strong><\/h3><p>Discussion Admins can open the <strong>Grading Overview<\/strong> by clicking the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" class=\"wp-image-3533\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/08\/teacher-feedback.png\" alt=\"\"> <strong>Grading Overview<\/strong> icon in the top-right of the screen.<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Grading Overview<\/strong> displays the names and overall grades (if given) of all users who have contributed to the discussion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the top of the menu, the current <a href=\"#adjusting-grade-and-feedback-visibility\">Grade and Feedback visibility<\/a> is displayed. Click <strong>Change<\/strong> to adjust this setting. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the search bar to help filter students&rsquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/changing-your-username\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"567\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">display names\/usernames<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on a user to display their <strong>Grading Details<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grading Details<\/strong><\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Grading Details<\/strong> sidebar contains information related to an individual user&rsquo;s grades, feedback, and contributions. You can scroll through users by clicking the arrows on either side of the user&rsquo;s display name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The top section displays the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/en\/hc\/about-tasks\/\" data-type=\"docs\" data-id=\"520\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">tasks<\/a> the user has completed (if enabled), the number of their claims which have been individually graded so far, and the average grade their claims have received.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Overall grade<\/strong> and <strong>Overall feedback<\/strong> sections allow you to <a href=\"#grading-and-leaving-feedback-for-students-overall\">give an overall grade and feedback<\/a> to the user. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, a list of the user&rsquo;s claims is displayed. Clicking on a claim will jump to its location in the discussion, making it easy to go through and <a href=\"#using-grading-and-feedback-on-individual-claims\">grade a user&rsquo;s individual claims<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01EXH3NQ3ZZ2X33ADN7A8XM79W\">Enabling\/Disabling Grading and Feedback<\/h2><section class=\"kialo-callout note\">\n    <div class=\"callout-icon-wrapper\">\n        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/themes\/wp-helpcenter-theme\/assets\/icons\/book.svg\" alt=\"note\" width=\"24\" height=\"24\" class=\"callout-icon\">\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"callout-content\">\n        <em>Note:<\/em>\n\t\t<p>To adjust settings for Grading and Feedback, you must have <a href=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/hc\/participant-roles-and-permissions\/\" referrerpolicy=\"unsafe-url\">Owner or Admin permissions<\/a> in a discussion.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section><p>Grading and Feedback is disabled in discussions by default. Then in the <strong>Grade Claim<\/strong> section, click the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"24\" height=\"24\" class=\"wp-image-3645\" style=\"width: 24px;\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/08\/revoke.png\" alt=\"\">  <strong>undo<\/strong> icon, and click <strong>Save<\/strong>. To remove feedback, delete it while editing, then click <strong>Save<\/strong>. <\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading and Leaving Feedback For Students Overall<\/h2><p>To leave an overall grade or feedback for a student&rsquo;s contributions:<\/p><ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the <strong>Grading Overview<\/strong> sidebar by clicking the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" class=\"wp-image-3533\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/support.kialo-edu.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/08\/teacher-feedback.png\" alt=\"\"> <strong>Grading Overview<\/strong> icon in the top-right of the screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the appropriate user. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter an <strong>Overall grade<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide <strong>Overall feedback<\/strong> for the user.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong> as appropriate. <\/li>\n<\/ol><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01EXH3NY88KEVT4JRHMEFS9BFN\">Adjusting Grade and Feedback Visibility<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you are in the process of grading, it is usually most desirable to leave this setting on <strong>Do not see grades and feedback<\/strong>. This way, students cannot see their grades of feedback until are you finished grading.
