As of May 2026, Kialo no longer supports Canvas via LTI. Existing Canvas LTI integrations may continue to work, but they are not actively maintained. Users are recommended to link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>

There are two recommended ways to use Kialo with Canvas:<\/p>

1. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>

Best if you do not want students to create Kialo accounts. This makes it easy to start a quick discussion with your students.<\/p>


<\/p>

<\/p>

2. Link to a standard Kialo discussion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>

Best if you want tighter access control. You will need to invite students by email, and they will need to log in or register for Kialo.<\/p>

1. Link to an Instant Access Kialo discussion<\/h2>

Use this option if you do not want students to create Kialo accounts.<\/p>

  1. In Kialo, open your discussion and click Share<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Enable Instant Access (don’t require Kialo accounts)<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Copy the link<\/strong> and add it to your Canvas course.

    2. Link to a standard Kialo discussion<\/h2>

    Use this option if you want to stop the risk of students sharing the discussion outside the classroom.<\/p>

    1. In Kialo, open your discussion and click Share<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Click Invite Users<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Enter<\/strong> or select the email addresses<\/strong> of the students you want to invite. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Click Next<\/strong>, then Invite<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Copy the discussion link<\/strong> and add it to your Canvas course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>
